The Public Works Department employs five full time employees. The Public Works Director is Kenny Williams and he has worked for the City for over fourteen years. Serving as Supervisor for the Public Works Department is Clif Custer, who has been with the City since 2010. Mr. Custer supervises the following employees: Beau Bullard and Bobby Raspberry. A new addition to the team is Jennifer Beaty. Mrs. Beaty serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Public Works Director. She has been employed with the City since 2007 and previously held the position of utility clerk.
Each employee is required to test for water and waste water license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. License renewal requires 30 hours of continuing education. Our employees are experienced with all facets of City maintenance. The main emphasis of the Public Works Department is our water supply. The City of Richwood has five water wells, three storage tanks and facilities to purchase water from the Brazos Water Authority. All five systems are inspected and water samples are taken daily.
The City shares a wastewater plant with Clute and lift stations are monitored 365 days a year and are equipped with warning lights to indicate possible problems. Responsibilities include new taps, line repairs and clearing of obstructions. Other responsiblities of the Public Works Department include the monthly reading of over 1,100 service meters, mowing, repairing of city facilities, patching roads, maintaining city equipment to include water and wastewater pumps and valves.
Code Enforcement, Building Plan Review, Building Permitting, Building Inspections, Road and Drainage as well as Parks and Recreation fall under the Public Works Department.
